Galician Sea Museum Outing In Vigo

Great day in "Museo Do Mar De Galicia" in Vigo.

First we went to the beach! We had fun playing with the water and sand!

Later we went to visit the Aquarium!
There you can find all the species, representing our Ría, starting with the sand at our beautiful beaches, the piers, the "bateas" where the mussels grow, the rocks and the Cíes Islands

We were very lucky to see how they feed all the different fish in the aquarium, we saw small sharks, rays, tarbots, mussels...

Inside the museum we enjoyed the lovely boats, the enormous whale skeleton, some fossils, different types of animals like pufferfish or seagulls,
We could also see a few fish tanks with seahorses! They were so cute! :)

Of course we had time for our elevenses and our little rest! ;)

This museum is in an old tin food factory (1887). It was also a municipal slaughterhouse and in 1992 the government started a plan to designe a Museum by the arquitects Aldo Rosi and César Portela. The building has got many rooms with different exhibitions, the Aquarium in another building,  a little lighthouse and a tavern. It´s located in a beautiful place surrounded with gorgeous beaches and with great views of the Ría and The Cíes Islands at the end of The Ría.
